Hide Secret Messages In Twitter, Facebook Updates!!!

Today i am gonna show you a technique called Steganography to hide secret messages in plain text. Sound cool, isn't it?? But before that, as always, lets understand what steganography means....

What is Steganography :

According to wikipedia, "Steganography is the art and science of writing hidden messages in such a way that no one, apart from the sender and intended recipient, suspects the existence of the message". This is pretty much self explanatory so i wont waste any more time discussing this.

How to hide secret messages using Steganography:

To hide secret messages in plain text i am going to use a program called 'Unicode Steganography'. What it basically does is encode your plain text along with the secret message in an almost similar looking unicode text. So once you encode it and post it on twitter or facebook, the message looks pretty usual but you can be assured that your intended recipient will get the message by decoding it. Lets see the steps to do this:

  • First go to this site, Iron Geek, scroll down and click on 'Download tools and get Source code'.
  • Once downloaded extract the zip file anywhere you want.
  • Now open 'unisteg.exe' from there and a window like this will open.

  • Enter your secret message in the first box(input to encode decode).
  • Enter your plain text(regular message) in the second box(cover text).
  • Click on encode.
  • Now it will provide you with the output. You can use this to post on your twitter, facebook status and no one will be able to see your secret message.
  • Now to decode that message, paste the encoded message in the cover text box again.
  • Click on decode.
  • And you will be able to see your secret message in the first box.
Sadly this didn't work on my pc running windows xp. But i tested it in my friend's pc and it worked fine. Also note that your cover text has to be pretty long to hide even a small message. Apart from that the program works pretty well. If in any case you want to hide long messages than you can use another free program called 'imagehide' to hide secret data in an image.

This is the only method i found out by which you can hide secret messages in text. If you know of any other such ways you can provide that in the comments section below.

And before i forget, i added commentluv plugin in this blog to share my love with you all:D All posts from now on, including this, will have this feature enabled.

Thanks for reading...

That's kind of interesting but I would have no idea how to use that myself. I mean, what secret message would I share so I guess if I saw this being used I would understand it a little better but trust me, that's just me. Seeing how things are done and being walked through how to do them and why works much better for me. But it sounds cool. I also have Windows XP so will probably not try this one on my computer.

Thanks though, pretty interesting actually.
