Mark Zuckerberg On Google Plus!!!!

Yes you read it right facebook founder mark zuckerberg is on google +. If you are not aware Google +(PLUS) is a new social networking site made by Google which is a direct rival to Facebook. Its less than a week old and still not available to everyone..

So who is the most popular person on Google +??  Not just Mark Zuckerberg is there on Google +, he is the most popular person on Google + right now. With more than 35,000 followers his fan base is greater than that of Larry Page, one of the founders of Google.

mark zuckerberg google

So what is Mark Zuckerberg doing on a rival site?? Apparently he signed up to Google + to check out how good Google + is and keep tabs on his new adversary:D This proves that the social networking wars are reaching a new height.

In a recent interview Zuckerberg explained why Facebook is the no.1 Social networking site and will remain so forever. Zuckerberg said "Facebook is strictly a social network, people don't want to manage groups, everyone is already on Facebook, and Facebook's video chat is more appealing". He also said that "Companies doing one thing will always do better than companies doing a million things". We all can see what he is trying to point out here:) Lets see if Google can prove him wrong....

Cloud Computing - The Future Is Here

Comments

You must have heard about cloud computing?? Haven't you?? Cloud computing is what i believe the future of computing. Five yrs from now and we will see everyone using cloud computing to store their important files and access them from anywhere..

cloud computing os

But i have no idea what cloud computing means???

According to wikipedia "Cloud computing refers to the use and access of multiple server-based computational resources via a digital network (WAN, Internet connection using the World Wide Web, etc.)". What this basically means is that it is an Internet-based computing solution where shared resources are provided like electricity distributed on the electrical grid. In cloud computing resources are allocated dynamically depending on the requirement.

Cloud computing is now agrressively used by companies so that all their employees can work on the same software simultaneously. I don't want to go into any further details because cloud computing is very complex and knowing how it works is not useful to most of us. I am here to tell you how you can be benefited from cloud computing by using online operating system which are based on this technology..

Whats an online operating system now???

This one is easy to explain. An online or web operating system is something like a website which you can access through your browser and it presents a full operating system which you can use without needing to download anything. You can upload files through your browser in such an os and can access it from anywhere around the world, even on a mobile phone. In this post i will provide a preview of  eyeOS 2.5. Lets start..

eye OS 2.5:

Not to be confused with iOS it is an web operating system which you can access by visiting this site eyeOS. An updated version of this os i.e eyeOS 2.5 was released today(6th july 2011) and you can test it for free. You just need to register with a new account and you will be taken to the home page which will look like this...

cloud computing eyeOS

If you are using a web os for the first time i am sure you will be surprised to see how much has the technology advanced in time. It looks almost similar to your desktop os. You will see a documents shortcut and a home shortcut.

When you double click on the home it will open your file system and you can see different directories like my music, my files etc. These folders will be empty by default. You can upload any file by right clicking on the open area and clicking on upload. Then you can select the file you want to upload. Now that you know how an web OS looks like lets see some of the features of eyeOS.

eyeOS features:

  • Various versatile applications like word processor, pdf reader, calculator, calender, chat etc
  • Upload files directly and access them from anywhere
  • Mobile phone support, you can access and download any files which you uploaded to your os from the mobile
  • Fast, efficient and stable
  • A program which you can download and make use as a server to access files on your hard disk directly from anywhere as long as it is connected to the internet

Although eyeOS is great but some apps are missing in 2.5 version right now like a browser which were present in version 2.0. Imagine using a browser within a browser, inception:D Am sure these apps will be updated and available soon..

So is it safe to store important files and photos online using eyeOS???

The answer is yes. Actually it is safer to store your files in online OS than on your hard disk. When you upload a file it is sent to different servers worldwide in pieces and when you require to access any stored file the OS retrieves it back. This process ensures that no one can access your files while they are stored online...

Some other web OS to look out for:

  • OOS - Online Operating System that provides windows os like interface and features
  • CloudO- Another great web os. Very fast and stable..
  • iCloud - Cloud computing service from Apple Inc, coming soon
  • Ghost- Not available for free right now

So go ahead and try it for free before you are late and tell me what you feel about it in the comments section below:D

Top 7 Windows Xp Tricks You Never Knew

This is the list of top 7 windows xp tricks you probably never knew about. Although there are thousands of windows tips and tricks available but i have mentioned the tricks which are useful, interesting, and easy to use at the same time. Most of these will work in other versions of windows as well. So lets start:

1. Display your name in the taskbar:

Ever thought of displaying your name in the taskbar?? No?? Ya probably you didnt because you think its impossible. Believe me its really cool and very easy to do. Steps:
  • Go to control panel
  • open regional and language options
  • click on customize
  • click on the time tab
  • now just write anything in the in the AM symbol and PM symbol and click OK
thats it now see your taskbar and you will see whatever you typed in there after the time. cool huh..

2. Copy to:

By default if you have to copy something you have to first right click on the file you want to copy and then get to the desired location and paste it. Now with this simple registry hack you can add a copy to option in right click menu from which you can select the location where you want to copy it. It can save a lot of time.. Here are the steps:

  • Go to start, then run(or press windows key+R)
  • type regedit
  • Browse to the location HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
  • Right click on ContextMenuHandler and click on new and then key and name it copy to
  • Now double click on(Default) and add this "{C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}" to the value data without the ""
  • Now exit regedit and right click any file, a new copy to option will be there. You can remove it by deleting the key anytime
You can also add a move to option in the same way by creating a new key and adding the value "{C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}"

3. Single Click shutdown:

Instead of going to start, turn off computer and then clicking on turn off, you can create a simple shortcut on your desktop to turn off your pc in just 2 steps:

  • Right click on you desktop, then click new and then shortcut
  • In the location box type "shutdown -s -t 0" and name it anything like turn off or whatever

Here -s stand for shutdown and -t for the time. 0 means it will wait 0 seconds before turning off. You can change it to any number depending on the time you need to wait before it shuts down.
Also you can create a shortcut to "shutdown -a" and open it to abort the shutdown

4. Hide files in images:

To hide any secret file you can download various paid folder lock programs and encrypt it with a password. But that will surely make others suspicious. So why not just hide your file in something people can never expect like in a image. Sounds weird. Here's how to do this...
Note-Please make sure you have winrar installed in your computer before you follow the steps. If not then download it, its free..

  • Go to my computer, create a new folder and name it digital(any name will work)
  • Now in this folder paste the files you want to hide and also the image in which you want to hide these files. I chose image.jpg for this.
  • Now select the files you want to hide, right click and then click on add to archieve. Name it files.rar
  • Now go to start, then click on run
  • Type cmd and press enter. This will open dos command prompt
  • Now type "cd \" without the "" n press enter
  • Now type "cd C:/digital" without the "" n press enter
  • now type "copy /b files.rar + image.jpg new.jpg"  without the "" n press enter

Now exit command prompt go to my computer and the folder digital. You will see a new file named new.jpg in there. This file is the image file with the hidden rar file in it. You can open the image and you won't see any difference. To extract the file hidden in this image, open this file with winrar and you will see the hidden file there... You can even hide songs and movies like this. But am sure having an image file of size 1 gb will look weird:D

Note- Make sure the files you want to hide doesn't have any space in their name or it may not work..

5.  Windows secret song:

Go to C:/windows/system32/oobe/images folder. You will see an wma file there named title. This is full 5 minute windows song commonly knows as windows secret song. Listen to it, its amazing. I love that song..

Or if you are too lazy, just right click on your desktop, click on new, then shortcut and in the location type "C:\WINDOWS\system32\oobe\images\title.wma" without the quotes. And then open the newly created shortcut to windows secret song:D

6. Some cool facts:

Now some interesting windows facts:

Right click on desktop click new folder and name it CON or LPT1 or PRN

Tried. Did it work??? Am sure it didn't:D

Now create a new text document, name it anything, open it and type "bush hid the facts" without the quotes of course and save it.

Now open it and see what happens...

7. Some underused keyboard shortcuts

  • F3 - To find text in a browser(equivalent to ctrl+F)
  • Wk+R - Run command
  • Alt+Double click on any file - Properties menu
  • F2 after selecting any file- Rename
  • Ctrl+Tab - To switch to next tab
  • Wk+D or Wk+M - Minimizes all open windows(equivalent to show the desktop)

Apart from these keys you can create a shortcut key to any program. Just right click on any shortcut on the desktop, go to properties, click on the shortcut tab and click on the shortcut key. Here hold on Alt and Ctrl and press any key which you want to assign as a shortcut. Now press Alt+Ctrl+assigned key and it will will open the specified program..

Thats it for this article. I hope you enjoyed reading this and more importantly found something useful that you didn' t already know:D Post in the comments section if you have any doubts...

Thanks for reading.....

iPhone 5!!!!!!

Comments

Yeah i love future technology. Recently i talked about the upcoming windows 8 and now am here to show you some features of the much awaited "Apple iPhone 5". According to reports, iPhone 5 is set to launch this october which isnt too far from now. Nothing is confirmed about this next generation phone. We don't even know if it will be called iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S(like 3GS). But what we all know is it will be faster, better and cooler than the amazing iPhone 4.

iPhone 5 launch features
Iphone 5 curved design

A new antenna, 1.2GHz processor (possibly dual-core) and a larger screen: 3.7" instead of 3.5" are some of the expected features. The iPhone 5 may also be made from a new kind of alloy. Also it is said that it will have a different design. Although iPhone 4 design was great, probably the best looking phone ever but who knows apple may come up with something even better. And we all know the iPhone 4 design was flawed because of reception issues which million's of people faced.Hundreds of leaked photos are available everywhere showing a lot of different design. But the most convincing rumours show that it will have a curved back or it may be box shaped(a very thin box indeed). You can see the pics..

iPhone 5 launch features
Iphone 5 Box design

Apart from that apple recently announced iOS 5 and iCloud and it also said that it will be compatible with iphone 4 and iphone 3GS(thats some good news). It will be available to the public in fall. It is confirmed that iPhone 5 will be based on iOS 5 and iCloud. You can see the details about the new features here...

Other rumours about iphone 5:

  • a white iPhone
  • a cheaper version of iPhone(iPhone nano)
  • NFC technology(provides credit/debit card features to iPhone)
  • 8 mp camera
  • 4G connectivity
  • and some others
None of the features mentioned above are confirmed by apple but there is a great probability that it will have those features. So what do you expect from the next iPhone:)

How to transform windows 7 to windows 8

Some time ago I showed you some features of the upcoming windows 8. You can see it here Windows 8 features if you havent seen it already. Windows 8 had some cool features which i can't wait to use. It look quite impressive and if you cant wait to see how will it feel, like me, then this tutorial is for you.

I am going to show you how to change your present windows 7 to  look and feel  like windows 8. There are many windows 8 themes out there already, i won't talk about them. Now lets see some of the important features of windows 8 and how can we add them in windows 7...

1. Interactive tiles:

As we all know windows 8 will be more tablet oriented and will have interactive tiles instead of icons. Now to add this feature in windows 7 there are 2 free programs available. First one is Omnimo 4 for rainmeter. What this will basically do is it will turn your desktop into fully customizable group of tiles.

Steps to install omnimo 4:

  • first you need to install rainmeter. You can download it from here
  • then download the actual program omnimo 4 from here and install it, quite easy to install
  • then open the freshly installed omnimo 4 n you will see an intro. Pretty much is self explanatory after that
windows 8 mosaic tiles

If you for some reason dont like this program( i cant think why you wont) then you can try Mosaic which does almost the same thing. Its still in its alpha stages so i dont recommend this. You can download it from here(its an lmgtfy link try this:P)

2. Interactive wallpapers

Now that you have added some cool interactive tiles, the next step is to add an interactive wallpaper.
You can do it by using another free software called Okozo. You can download it from here. It provides some really cool wallpapers you can interact with (not just another animated wallpaper software which are quite popular). You can read a full review about OKOZO here:

windows 8 interactive

3. Windows 8 snap feature

Lastly after adding some interactive tiles and interactive wallpapers our windows 7 already looks pretty similar to windows 8. Now to add some functionality you can use a program called Winsplit. Download it from here. It adds some more features to the already present snap feature in windows 7 and improves the ability to multitask."WinSplit Revolution is a small utility which allows you to easily organize your open windows by tiling, resizing and positioning them to make the best use of your desktop real estate".

windows 8 snap

This completes the transformation of windows 7 to windows 8:D  If you didnt understand any of the steps mentioned above feel free to write in the comments section. I will respond as soon as possible. So do you like the new look of your desktop....???

Windows 8 features

Well microsoft windows 8 is set to release in 2012, probably in april and it is already creating a lot of buzz around the techies. We all hope that it will be a significant improvement over windows 7 because so far windows falls behind other popular os's like mac and linux(ubuntu) in stability. So lets look at some of the features windows 8 has to offer..

windows 8 feature

If anything windows 8 does look promising to me and completely looks like a future os. Lets look at some the important changes microsoft is considering to bring in windows 8.

First of all microsoft is saying that it will be a 64 bit os only which means that it wont support 32 bit processors. So thats some bad news if you you have a 32 bit processor and eagerly waiting for windows 8.

Secondly the look of windows 8 will be completely different and will be a true eye candy. It will have tablet like interface and it will use interactive mosaic tiles for most of the applications. Have a look below..

windows 8 mozaic tiles

It will also support something called snap to multitask between different open applications. You can snap application one over the other with a simple gesture. You can even have a standard Windows 8 desktop on one side and a new Windows 8 app on the other. This is actually quite cool.

windows 8 multitasking snap

N lastly performance wise it does look pretty fast and fluid. But again that is something which i cant guarantee right now, It will depend on how it performs on actual computers that people use with limited amount of memory...

Some other Windows 8 features:

Apart from the above mentioned features windows 8 will have a lot of features which are not that important. Some of them are:
  • New task manager
  • Hybrid booting
  • Internet explorer 10
  • Genuine center
  • Black Screen of Death ( which replaces the blue screen of death:D)
  • n many other improvements

How to hide files in windows the cool way

    Comments

This works both on Windows XP and Vista, not sure about other Win versions. What this will do is make selected folder invisble, not hidden. The folder will be only visible when you try to highlight it (see below). If you want to make sure that no one discovers it by chance then also move it to the corner of the screen.

      1. Create a new folder.
      2. Rename: Highlight the folder and Click ‘F2′ button. Hold the ‘Alt’ key and type in 0160 (you won’t see those 0160 numbers while typing them). Press Enter. Note, you have to use the numpad to enter these numbers.
      3. Change icon: Right click the folder >> Properties >> Customize >> Change the icon >> Select the blank one >> Ok.
